Pink Shirt Day!
Date: 17th May 2024
Pink Shirt Day is the day that Aotearoa comes together to take a stand against bullying. By taking part and wearing a pink t-shirt, you will be showing your aroha and commitment to creating a kinder, more inclusive Aotearoa where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion or cultural background.

What is Pink Shirt Day?
New Zealand has been celebrating Pink Shirt Day annually since 2009. It’s a worldwide movement that began in Canada in 2007 when a couple of students bought 50 pink tops for their classmates to wear as a show of solidarity after a Grade 9 boy was bullied for wearing pink. The Mental Health Foundation uses funds raised through Pink Shirt Day to deliver resources and activities that support schools, workplaces and communities to create safe environments where bullying can’t thrive.
